Amber Igiede led Hawai’i to a 2-1 record over the weekend to scoop up Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors. This is Igiede’s second career weekly defensive award and fourth overall Big West weekly nod.

Hailing from Baton Rouge, La., Igiede was big at the net with 23 total blocks, including six solo stuffs, averaging 2.09 blocks per set.

Igiede posted nine blocks and a career-high tying three solos in a sweep against West Virginia. In Sunday’s five-set loss to No. 23 UCLA, the middle blocker tied a career high with 10 total blocks.

Also an offensive force for the Rainbow Wahine, Igiede hit .449 with 47 kills on the week, or 4.27 per set. Igiede recorded double-digit kills in each match and recorded her third career kills-blocks double-double to cap the weekend.
