Zayna Meyer’s collegiate debut for Long Beach State helped the Beach to a 201 week at the Portland State Tournament and earned the setter a pair of Big West weekly awards.

Meyer distributed 9.71 assists per set and recorded three double-doubles in as many matches. The redshirt freshman closed the tournament averaging 3.36 digs and 1.29 points per set to go along with 10 blocks and five service aces.

The Wheaton, Ill., native kicked off the weekend with 42 assists and a career-high 18 digs against Oregon State, then posted 44 assists and 15 digs at Portland State. Meyer closed the tournament with a career-best 50 assists and 14 digs in a five-set loss versus No. 19 Oregon. The total tally of 136 assists leads The Big West and ranks sixth in NCAA Division I after the first weekend on the courts.
