  • Joe Yorke batted .579 (11-for-19) in aiding Cal Poly to a perfect 4-0 week that included the Mustangs’ first ever series victory at Cal State Fullerton’s Goodwin Field. He scored four runs and drove in 11 with four doubles, a home run and two walks. Yorke was charged with just his second error of 2022 over 35 defensive chances (.971).
  • The sophomore first baseman, a second-year Mustang who spent his freshman season in 2020 at Boise State, extended his reached-base and hit streaks to 25 and 17 games, respectively.
  • On Tuesday against Pepperdine, Yorke produced his second five-hit effort in four games and five days. He had gone 5-for-5 against visiting CSU Bakersfield on Friday, May 6, and followed it up by finishing 5-for-6 in another 16-4 home romp over the Waves, with two doubles, two runs and three RBI.
  • Yorke’s third home run of the season was a two-run blast in the fourth inning against the Titans on Saturday. He also drove in runs via first-inning double, second-inning walk and ninth-inning single, winding up 3-for-4 with a career-high five RBI in the 6-2 triumph. The Campbell native was 6-for-13 (.462) with eight RBI in Fullerton.
  • Cal Poly has won a season-high seven in succession after dropping six straight, and is the only team left that could keep No. 18 UC Santa Barbara from winning The Big West title, sitting four games back with six to go as the Mustangs host UC Davis this weekend.
  • Yorke is Cal Poly’s second first-time Big West Field Player of the Week in a row, following true freshman catcher Ryan Stafford. He is the fourth Mustang honoree for 2022 after shortstop Brooks Lee (March 7) and Collin Villegas (April 4). They have also earned three pitcher awards.
