Alice Pratesi Award Pairs Team of the Week Week Of 4/18/2022 Sport Beach Volleyball School Long Beach State Year Position Hometown Rome, Italy High School Skyler Germann and Alice Pratesi went 2-1 on the No. 1 court to help guide No. 11 Long Beach State to a 2-2 mark at the Arizona Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. Germann, a true sophomore out of Minnesota, and Pratesi, a fourth-year sophomore and Italian native who transferred from Stetson ahead of the shortened 2020 season, produced both their wins in Saturday’s narrow 3-2 team losses against nationally-ranked foes. They took a 21-18, 21-12 decision against Alex Parkhurst and Alana Rennie of 17th-ranked host Arizona for a 1-0 lead to begin the day. The Beach tandem then rallied to defeat Anaya Evans and Jess Vastine for the final point against No. 7 Grand Canyon, 22-24, 21-17, 15-12. In Friday’s 4-1 win over Stephen F. Austin, Germann and Pratesi fell in three sets (25-23, 15-21, 17-15) to Natalie Bennett and Olivia Unnasch. Germann then took the afternoon off while Pratesi paired with Kenzie Holtz to down Kellie Garraway and Vanessa Hurnikova of Southern Miss in straights (21-19, 21-16) during another 4-1 team victory. Saturday’s results snapped a five-match win streak for Long Beach State, which is 15-12 on the season, while Germann and Pratesi are 14-10 together. This is the second career weekly honor for Germann and Pratesi, with a prior selection a season ago on March 8, 2021. They are LBSU’s first honorees of 2022, and break up a run of three straight awards for the Hawai’i duo of Brooke Van Sickle and Kaylee Glagau.
