Brooke Van Sickle Award Pairs Team of the Week Week Of 4/11/2022 Sport Beach Volleyball School Hawai'i Year Senior Position Hometown Battle Ground, Wash. High School Battle Ground HS Brooke Van Sickle and Kaylee Glagau were perfect again at 4-0 in the No. 1 spot while up against a pair of top-10 squads twice each at home, to garner their third successive Big West weekly honor. They dropped just one frame all weekend while winning three matches in straight sets. Van Sickle and Glagau beat Anaya Evans and Jess Vastine (21-15, 21-12) to level Saturday’s match with No. 7 Grand Canyon at 2-2 before the Rainbow Wahine fell 3-2. They then also swept Reka Orsi Toth and Megan Rice (21-14, 22-20) of No. 6 Loyola Marymount to tie that contest at 2-2, before UH took the 3-2 decision via the No. 2 court. In two 3-2 losses to those same teams on Sunday on Senior Night at the Ching Complex, Van Sickle and Glagau again downed Orsi Toth and Rice (21-19, 21-12), and then rallied to get past Evans and Vastine (17-21, 21-15, 15-12). Van Sickle and Glagau eclipsed the 20-win mark together and improved to a team-best 23-7 this season, all at No. 1, with victories in 16 of their last 18 matches. Eighth-ranked Hawai’i went 1-3 to move to 18-13. Van Sickle has five weekly awards for her career, and Glagau four. The pair previously earned the honor together on March 7, March 28 and April 4.
