  • Sophomore Camille Kiss helped No. 30 UC Santa Barbara to a historic 4-3 triumph at No. 24 Stanford last Tuesday, March 22. She and partner Marta Gonzalez Ballbe first won 6-2 against Ana Geller and Niluka Madurawe in the No. 3 position as the Gauchos took the doubles point.
  • Kiss then edged Angelica Blake at No. 3 singles, 7-6(5), 6-4, to give UCSB a 2-1 lead. The Cardinal were 8-0 at home heading in with just four points surrendered, and lost at Taube Family Tennis Stadium for only the sixth time in their last 92 matches dating back to 2018. The Gauchos had dropped each of the previous 12 meetings with the 20-time national champions.
  • The next day in a 4-0 home loss against fifth-ranked Pepperdine, Kiss and Gonzalez Ballbe won their match at No. 3 doubles, 6-2. She then dropped a 6-1, 6-3 singles decision to 79th-ranked Janice Tjen on the No. 3 court. The Gauchos are now 9-6 on the year and ranked 25th.
  • The 2021 Big West Freshman of the Year is a three-time Big West Player of the Week following her selection on Jan. 26, and previously on April 28, 2021. This is the sixth weekly award for the Gauchos this season, with Shakhnoza Khatamova (Feb. 2 and Feb. 23), Amelia Honer (March 2) and Elizaveta Volodko (March 9) also prior honorees.
