  • Mitzi Duarte of Cal State Fullerton opened the season with a Top 10 finish to claim Big West Golfer of the Month for September. This is a first career award for the senior transfer from UC Riverside.  

  • Playing in the Orange and Blue for the first time, Duarte tied for eighth place at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Sept. 14-15 in Alburquerque, N.M. The senior carded a 1-under par 215, opening with a pair of even-par 72s around a 1-under 71 in the second round.  

  • The Norwalk, Calif., native rolled in 12 birdies and played the Par 5s at a 4.58 stroke average (-5) to help the Titans finish fifth as a team. 

  • Also competing at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, Duarte finished at 4-under 212 to tie for 26th in the field of 105 golfers in Wolcott, Colo. The three-day event was highlighted by a final round score of 5-under 67 that featured seven birdies.
