Wilcox HS UC Santa Barbara's Matthew Staples won the 200m and was runner-up in the 100m at the UCSB Invitational to earn The Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week award. It is Staples' first career weekly honor. The Santa Clara, Calif. native placed second in the 100m with a wind-legal personal-best time of 10.37. It is the No. 2 time in program history and currently fifth in The Big West. Staples followed with a first-place effort in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 20.99.
