It is Smith's second career weekly honor, having won it once in 2024. The Temecula, Calif. native ran a Big West leading time in the 1500 at the Bryan Clay Invitational, posting a time of 3:39.57 in the elite section of the 1,500, which ranks No. 1 in the Big West, No. 22 in the West Region and No. 41 in Division I. In the 800 Friday, Smith ran a time of 1:48.10, tied for second fastest 800 ever personally. Smith currently ranks No. 2 in the Big West in the event and is tied for No. 21 in the West.
