It is the first career weekly honor for Magdaleno. In Friday’s season-opener against the Cardinals, the Rainbow Warrior righty struck out a career-high 12 batters over a career-long 8.1 innings on the mound and gave up only two hits for one unearend run. The Los Angeles, Calif. native retired 17 batters in a row from the third through the ninth inning. Hawai'i is 8-4 to begin the year. Magdaleno is 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 19.1 innings this season.
