  • UC Davis junior Andrei Volgin won a pair of singles matches over the weekend to claim his first career Big West weekly honor.  

  • Playing No. 1 singles, Volgin posted a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over  Mark Keki to help lead the Aggies to a thrilling 4-3 Causeway Cup win over rival Sacramento State. Volgin then downed James Watt 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a 6-1 team victory over Saint Mary's.  

  • The Fremont native was in a battle with the No. 38-ranked player in the country - Alexandre Rotsaert of Stanford in Wednesday’s match against the Cardinal. Volgin nearly took the first set, falling in a 7-6(5) tie breaker and was in the hunt in the second set before the match was unfinished.
