Leading the Hawai’i attack in three road wins, Kainoa Wade has earned Big West Offensive Player of the Week. The weekly award is a first career selection.  

Wade totaled a team-best 44 kills (4.40 per set) and 55 points (5.55 per set) to go along with a team-best seven aces with 19 digs and eight blocks in the Rainbow Warriors’ trip to Pennsylvania. 

The sophomore opposite hitter from Kailua, O’ahu, opened the road trip with 14 kills on .545 hitting with a career-high nine digs, two blocks and an ace in the sweep of Saint Francis. 

In the first match against Penn State, Wade finished with nine kills three aces, five digs and two blocks in the sweep. The rematch with the Nittany Lions saw Wade match a career-high with 21 kills, hitting .450 with three aces, five digs and four blocks in a four-set win.   

After the strong performance on the week, Wade’s season averages land in third in The Big West in a trio of categories: hitting percentage (.426), kills per set (3.31) and points per set (4.03). The hitting average ranks 14th nationally.
