  • Helping keep one of the nation’s longest winning streaks alive, UC Irvine senior Hunter Hernandez has been named Big West Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and a sixth career nod.

  • The product of San Jose, Calif., went off for a pair of 20-point performances to bring the personal streak to five as the Anteaters dispatched Long Beach State and Hawai’i to extend the team streak to 14 consecutive wins.

  • Thursday, Hernandez finished with a game-high 21 points to go along with seven rebounds in a 78-59 victory at Long Beach State. Going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc, Hernandez tied a career high in 3-pointers made in a game.

  • Two days later, Hernandez once again led all players with 20 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals to lift the Anteaters to a 50-47 win over the Rainbow Wahine. The 5-foot-9 guard scored 14 in the second half to help erase deficits in both the third and fourth quarters to help extend UCI’s program-recurd winning streak.

  • Hernandez is currently second in The Big West in both scoring average (19.2 ppg) and free throw percentage (85.5).
