Martinez averaged 5.00 kills and 2.29 digs per set as UCSB fell to UC San Diego in three before the team upended Long Beach State in four on Saturday. Martinez had 17 kills against the Tritons, hitting .344 in the match. The freshman from Katy, Texas, then powered down 18 kills with 12 digs against the Beach as the Gauchos climbed into a tie for third in The Big West standings.
