  • The Long Beach State duo of Megan Widener and Demi Wagdy have been voted Big West Pairs Team of the Week. It is the second career nod for Widener, who won once in 2023 with partner Natalie Glenn.  

  • Playing from the No. 5 position at the Death Volley Invitational, the combo went 3-1, earning straight set wins against No. 8 Texas, No. 2 TCU and No. 8 Florida State. 

  • The tandem secured the first point of the match in all three instances, but the Beach were unable to secure any team wins against the field of four top-ranked foes. 

  • The blemish on the weekend came at the hands of the fifth flight from No. 11 LSU. After dropping the first set, 21-10, Widener and Wagdy rallied with a 21-16 win in the second. The decider went to the Tigers twosome of Skylar Martin and Emily Meyer, 15-11. 

  • Widener and Wagdy have won eight of their last ten matches and are currently 18-6 on the season. Five of these wins have come over Top 10 opponents.
