High School Eastlake HS For the fifth time this season, Long Beach State junior tandem Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah have claimed Big West Pairs Team of the Week honors for April 21. This is an eighth career award. Playing from the top of the Beach lineup, Gementera and Hagenah extended their pairs win streak to 10 as they took care of business on the final day of the regular season earning dual points against Utah and No. 4 LMU. The twosome had a thrilling battle with Utah, dropping Set 1 by a score of 21-19 before rallying to take the second and third, 21-16 and 15-12 as LBSU secured the 5-0 team sweep. Gementera and Hagenah were the lone dual point for the Beach against the fourth-ranked Lions as they took their opponents in straight sets, 21-13, 22-20.
