Taylor Hagenah Award Pairs Team of the Week Week Of 3/25/2025 Sport Beach Volleyball School Long Beach State Year Junior Position Hometown Oceanside, Calif. High School Mission Vista HS With a perfect weekend at The Big West Challenge, Long Beach State duo Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah went back-to-back as Big West Pairs Team of the Week. This is their third weekly award of the season (Feb. 25, March 18), and sixth career honor for the duo. For their efforts, the pair was also named AVCA/CBVB Collegiate Beach Pair of the Week on Monday. Gementera and Hagenah extended their win streak to fifteen, and only dropped one set through six matches from the sand in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The lone three-set match came against UC Davis’ top flight of Tabitha Mitchell and Kylie Miller with a 16-14 third set score in a thrilling comeback. The junior tandem beat the No. 1 pairing for two ranked opponents in No. 17 Hawai’i and No. 6 Cal Poly, including being the lone dual point for the Beach against the Mustangs, outdueling Piper Ferch and Erin Inskeep, 21-15, 21-19. Gementera and Hagenah also reached 80 career wins as a pairing in the victory over the Rainbow Wahine, further solidifying their legacy in the Beach record books as all-time winningest pair. As a team, LBSU went 5-1 with the lone dual loss coming at the hands of Challenge hosts, Cal Poly.
