The junior averaged 5.00 kills on .423 hitting, with 5.63 points, 1.75 digs and 1.00 blocks per set as No. 2 UC Irvine dispatched the Cougars twice in their home gym, handing BYU their first losses of the year. In Wednesday’s match, Flexen put down a career-high 26 kills, including five of six attempts in the decisive fifth set, to go along with a career-best nine digs and season-high five blocks. In the Friday rematch, the Rio Rancho, N.M., native totaled 14 kills in the sweep with five digs and three block assists. Flexen is currently in the national top 10 in multiple offensive statistical categories, including hitting percentage (.426 - 8th), kills per set (4.29 - 4th) and points per set (5.09 - 4th).
