  • Freshman setter Moni Nikolov guided No. 2 Long Beach State to a trio of road wins on their midwestern road trip to pick up a first career Big West Freshman of the Week award. 

  • The setter from Sofia, Bulgaria, averaged 10.90 assists per set as the Beach hit .394 in wins at Lindenwood, McKendree and No. 12 Lewis.  

  • Along with primary setting duties, Nikolov also chipped in on the offense with a team-high nine aces, including five against Lewis, and finished with 14 kills (1.40 per set). Defensively, Nikolov led Long Beach State with 30 digs (3.00 per set), including 16 against the Flyers and was in on five blocks on the week. 

  • The freshman is currently leading the league in digs average (2.54) and rates in the top five in assists average (10.38 - 4th) and aces average (0.769 - 5th). The aces per set mark rates ninth nationally.
