This is Sabel’s fifth career award, earning a pair of honors in each of the last two seasons. Sabel led the team in scoring in a home weekend, averaging 15.5 points per game with a 7-for-15 shooting clip from three-point range, as well as 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. In Thursday’s 81-37 win against Cal State Bakersfield, the guard put up a third 20-plus point game of the year with 21 points on 50 percent shooting to go along with six rebounds and three steals. Against CSUN on Saturday, the native of Stockholm, Sweden finished with 10 points, reaching double digits for the 10th straight contest. Despite taking a backseat in the scoring category, Sabel still contributed heavily both defensively and offensively, grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots to help lead the team to a 68-41 victory. Sabel currently ranks second in The Big West in points (15.1) and three-pointers (2.50) per game.
