Owen Koonce Award Player of the Week Week Of 12/2/2024 Sport Men's Basketball School Cal Poly Year Graduate Student Position Hometown Lafayette, CO High School Cal Poly's Owen Koonce averaged 23.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two victories to take home The Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week award. It is Koonce's first career weekly honor from the conference. The last Mustang to win Player of the Week was Brantly Stevenson during the 2022-23 season. The Cal Poly graduate guard shot 73.1 percent (19-of-26) from the floor, 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from behind the arc and 100 percent (5-of-5) from the charity stripe in the two contests. Koonce compiled 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in Tuesday's 82-79 home win against Grambling State. The Lafayette, Colo. product scored a career-high 30 points, with seven rebounds and three assists, as Cal Poly defeated Stanford on the road, 97-90, Saturday night. Cal Poly is 5-4 to start the season and Koonce is averaging 15.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
