This is a first freshman award, as Hurriyet was named the defensive honoree back on Oct. 28. Hurriyet notched a pair of double-digit dig tallies over the weekend, with 11 digs in sweeps against Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine which extended the Cal Poly winning streak to four. In Saturday’s win over the Anteaters, Hurriyet tallied a career-high seven assists while adding three service aces. Hurriyet averaged 3.67 digs and 1.50 assists per set on the week as the preseason favorite Mustangs secured their place in The Big West Championship bracket with two matches remaining in the regular season.
