High School Centennial HS For a Big West record seventh time this season, Caylen Alexander of Hawai'i has been named Offensive Player of the Week. The award eclipses the previous single-season benchmark set in 2007 when Cal Poly's Kylie Atherstone claimed six weekly offensive awards. Alexander averaged 6.33 kills per set with a total of 57 kills and posted a .301 hitting percentage over Hawai'i's two-match road trip. The junior opened the week with 36 kills on a career-high 85 attempts in a five-set setback at UC Riverside. Alexander went 24-for-49 with just one error over the final three sets, hitting .469 over that stretch, and finished at .318 for the match. She became the first UH player with two 30-plus kill performances in a season since 2012. The 36-kill tally rates fifth in NCAA Division I for kills in a five-set match this season. Alexander followed with 21 kills in a four-set win at UC Davis on Saturday to keep UH knotted in a four-way tie at the top of The Big West. The outside hitter posted double-doubles in both matches with 14 digs at UC Riverside and 10 at UC Davis. The product of Alpharetta, Ga., bumped the season average to 5.35 kills per set, which stands in second in the country, and 5.88 points per set, good for third nationally.
