Katerina Georgiadis Award Defensive Player of the Week Week Of 9/16/2024 Sport Women's Volleyball School Cal State Bakersfield Year Graduate Student Position Libero/Defensive Specialist Hometown Ontario, Canada High School Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute Cal State Bakersfield’s Katerina Georgiadis helped anchor the Roadrunner defense at the Boise State Classic to earn Big West Defensive Player of the Week. The award is a first career nod for Georgiadis, who transferred to CSUB after a four-year career at Santa Clara. Georgiadis averaged 4.82 digs and 2.09 assists per set with double-figure kill tallies in each match. In Saturday’s 3-1 win against Gonzaga, the libero from Ontario, Canada, scooped out 18 digs with six assists. All told, Georgiadis has recorded 116 total digs to rank sixth in The Big West thus far in 2024. This is the first time in Big West women’s volleyball history that Cal State Bakersfield has enjoyed weekly winners on consecutive weeks and is just the fourth overall weekly honor for a Roadrunner since joining the league four years ago.
