  • Tayli Ikenaga of Hawai’i put together back-to-back career performances to claim Big West Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 8. This is a second career weekly honor after earning one Freshman of the Week award back in 2021.

  • Ikenaga posted a staggering 60 digs in a two-match series split with Pepperdine. The senior set a career best with 27 digs in the opener then threatened a program record by popping up 33 in Saturday’s five-set victory. The Honolulu product had 14 digs in the third set alone to became the first UH player to record 30-plus digs in a match since 2018, finishing one shy of the UH record in the rally-scoring era.

  • The 33 digs marked the highest single-match total in the Big West since Nov. 17, 2022, and moved Ikenaga into second in The Big West with a 4.26 digs per set average this season.

  • Ikenaga also handled 28 serve receptions without an error in the series and served up three aces, including a walkoff ace on Saturday.
