  • UC Santa Barbara starting pitcher Ryan Gallagher threw eight innings of shutout ball against Cal State Bakersfield to claim The Big West Pitcher of the Week award. It is the Gallagher's third career weekly honor, having won it once earlier this season (April 22) and once in 2022 (April 11). 

  • In an eventual 8-3 team victory in the series opener, the righty scattered two hits with one walk and compiled a career-high 13 strikeouts over eight innings. The Granite Bay, Calif. product carryied a no-hitter into the seventh inning and retired 15 batters in a row from the second out of the first inning to the first out of the sixth inning. 

  • Combined with 15-7 and 7-1 wins in game two and three, respectively, the Gauchos swept the series sweep over Cal State Bakersfield and increased their conference winning strek to 15 games. 

  • UC Santa Barbara is 35-12 overall and tied for first in The Big West with a 20-4 in conference record. Gallagher is 7-1 with a 2.34 ERA with 82 strikeouts in 69.1 innings of work this season. Opposing hitters have struck out more than twice as often (82 K) as they have recorded hits (40) against the Gaucho ace.
