  • UC San Diego outfielder Nick Costello slashed .421/.577/.842 with six RBI and nine runs over five games to earn The Big West Field Player of the Week honor. It is the first career weekly award for Costello.

  • The junior had one hit and scored two runs in a mid-week matchup against San Diego State on Wednesday. 

  • Costello went 5-for-6, including a pair of home runs, for four RBI and four runs in a 15-4 series opener win against UC Irvine on Friday. 

  • The Pleasanton, Calif. product collected a hit, a RBI and a run in the middle game of the series on Saturday. 

  • Costello had the game-winning RBI hit in a 10-9 walk-off victory that secured the series win over UC Irvine for UC San Diego on Sunday. 

  • UC San Diego is 23-11 overall and 10-5 in conference play. Costello currently has a .282 batting averaged with 20 RBI and 35 runs scored this season.
