  • CSUN senior Kyle Hobus spearheaded the Matadors’ defensive effort in a two-match series split at then-No. 2 Hawai’i to earn Big West Defensive Player of the Week. This is a fifth career weekly award and the second defensive nod, also earning honors on Feb. 28, 2022.  

  • In addition to 32 kills on .377 hitting, Hobus had nine blocks and five digs while serving as a primary passer on the CSUN back line. In the Matadors' 3-1 upset, Hobus had 21 kills (.395), five digs, and three blocks while receiving 20 Hawai'i serves. 

  • For the week, Hobus posted averages of 4.00 kills, 5.00 points and 1.13 blocks per set as CSUN halted a nine-match winning streak for the Rainbow Warriors in the all-time series.
