CSUN senior Kyle Hobus spearheaded the Matadors’ defensive effort in a two-match series split at then-No. 2 Hawai’i to earn Big West Defensive Player of the Week. This is a fifth career weekly award and the second defensive nod, also earning honors on Feb. 28, 2022.

In addition to 32 kills on .377 hitting, Hobus had nine blocks and five digs while serving as a primary passer on the CSUN back line. In the Matadors' 3-1 upset, Hobus had 21 kills (.395), five digs, and three blocks while receiving 20 Hawai'i serves.

For the week, Hobus posted averages of 4.00 kills, 5.00 points and 1.13 blocks per set as CSUN halted a nine-match winning streak for the Rainbow Warriors in the all-time series.
