High School Millikan HS Long Beach State starting pitcher Myles Patton threw seven shutout innings against Cal State Fullerton to claim The Big West Pitcher of the Week award. It is Patton's first career weekly honor and the second time this season that a Dirtbag pitcher has won the accolade after Kellan Montgomery won the award on Feb. 26. In an eventual 5-2 team victory in game one of the series, the lefty limited the Titans to five hits, struck out seven, and did not walk a batter. The sophomore threw 99 pitches, 71 for them strikes. The Dirtbags won the next two games by scores of 4-3 and 9-6 to complete the series sweep of Cal State Fullerton. Long Beach State is currently 13-8-1 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Patton is 2-2 with a 3.37 ERA and has recorded 48 strikeouts in 34.2 innings of work.
