  • Last season’s Big West Co-Freshmen of the Year Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah helped the Beach remain undefeated at home to claim this year’s first Big West Pairs Team of the Week award. This marks the third career weekly honor for the sophomore duo. 

  • The team downed No. 17 GCU and No. 15 Georgia State in a tri-match on Wednesday, with Gementera and Hagenah secured two-set sweeps from Flight 1. The duo earned the dual’s clinching point in the 4-1 win against Georgia State.  

  • In the weekend’s LBSU Tournament at the site of the 2024 Big West Beach Volleyball Championship, the Beach compiled team wins against Texas, No. 11 Arizona State, Nebraska and conference foe CSUN. The tandem was the difference-maker against the Sundevils, recording the winning dual point and downing Anya Pemberton and Daniella Kensinger, 21-16, 18-21, 15-10 as LBSU took the 3-2 team victory. 

  • Gementera and Hagenah stayed aggressive on offense as Hagenah averaged 3.6 aces over the six games and Gementera had a 95.5% serve percentage.
