Leading the Aggies to a pair of wins to cap the regular season, UC Davis guard Tova Sabel claimed a fourth career and second season Big West Player of the Week award. Sabel was also honored back on Jan. 8 in the early weeks of league play.

Sabel’s name is now etched in the annals of UC Davis women's basketball history, amassing a double-double with a season-high 28 points while reaching the 1,000-point plateau in Thursday’s victory over UC San Diego. Sabel was 10-of-17 from the field while pulling down 12 rebounds and adding a steal and a block in the contest.

The native of Stockholm, Sweden, capped the regular season with 17 points in the Aggies' win over Long Beach State to cap off a perfect 2-0 week at home. Sabel was 7-of-10 from three-point range in the pair of games. Playing two collegiate seasons at Penn State before transferring to UCD, Sabel heads into the postseason with 1,022 career points.

UC Davis secured the No. 5 seed in the brackets of the 2024 Hercules Tires Big West Women’s Basketball Championship, and the Aggies are set to take on eighth-seeded Cal State Fullerton in the first round of play on Wednesday at Noon PT from The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev.
