For the second time in the month of February, Daejah Phillips of Hawai’i claimed Big West Player of the Week honors after a career-high outing.

Phillips finished with a new career scoring benchamark of 29 points while posting one of the most efficient shooting performances in program history in a win at Long Beach State on Saturday, the lone game of the week for the Rainbow Wahine.

Phillips went 12-for-14 or 85.7 percent from the field, falling one made basket short of the UH single-game record for field-goal percentage (13-for-14 set in 1998). The junior went into halftime with seven points on 3-for-4 shooting then made the first nine attempts of the second half.

The Las Vegas product scored 22 points in the final two frames, 16 of which came in the fourth quarter to help UH remain in first place in The Big West standings, with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

The 12 made field goals is the highest single-game total in the Big West this season, all coming in just under 20 minutes off the bench in the offensive explosion. Phillips also went 4-for-5 from the free throw line and finished with four rebounds and two steals in the contest.
