  • UC San Diego’s Josh Schellinger helped the Tritons to the 3-1 win in The Big West opener to claim Defensive Player of the Week honors. A four-time freshman honoree in 2023, this is Schellinger’s first career weekly defensive award. 

  • Schellinger finished with a career-high seven blocks (one solo) to go along with eight digs, six kills, and a service ace in the home win against UC Santa Barbara.  

  • All in all, the sophomore from Bloomingdale, Ill, accounted for 11 points as league play got underway.
