Former Cal State Northridge women’s basketball player Katie Holloway was recently featured as one of the “Faces In the Crowd” in the June 9 issue of Sports Illustrated. Holloway, who was a senior during the 2007-2008 season, averaged 14.5 ppg and 7.2 rpg on the year, lead the Big West Conference in field goal percentage (.554), and was named second-team All-Big West. What makes Holloway’s story remarkable is that she did it all without her right foot and ankle.
Born without a fibula in her right leg, Holloway had her foot and ankle amputated when she was 20 months old and has gone her entire life with a prosthetic replacement. Up until this year, Holloway had avoided discussing her circumstances, but after some reflection, she agreed to let FOX Sports detail her story. See what Holloway and coach Staci Schulz have to say about her extraordinary story in the feature, which is available in its entirety on BigWest.TV.
